Joining the Nutanix movement!

Nutanix

During the course of years I’ve experienced a lot of changes in the way we look at IT, we need to do more with less but still we’re over complexing our datacenter just to deliver our services to our end-users. We’re not only delivering our services as a standard user but we need to deliver our services based on context, so which user, what kind of device, where is this user located etc etc.

While we, as IT, are making big steps to support this philosophy, I’ve seen the classical mistake of adding in to many moving parts way to many times. First we wanted to optimise the usage of resources from our hardware so server virtualisation was introduced. After that we came to the conclusion that a shared storage platform would be an ideal solution to provide high availability to our already virtualised servers and this story goes on and on and on. It’s in all facets of our trade; take a look at desktop virtualisation. How many blocks do we need for a desktop? Just to name a few:

  • Storage
  • Networking
  • Compute
  • Broker
  • Windows OS
  • Application distribution

With the idea of doing more with less you see that this can quite complex and we’re just talking about one piece of the puzzle. All of this got me thinking; it’s time to bring disruptive technology without adding complexity!

And I believe Nutanix can bring this disruptive technology without adding the additional complexity, with their hyper converged solution they can reduce costs of your DevOps just by keeping IT simple. When I heard that Nutanix was looking for someone with a focus on EUC it didn’t take me long to figure out that it would be more than interesting to take a shot.

And so I’m very proud to announce that as per 1st of October I’ll be joining Nutanix as member of the Solutions and Performance Engineering team lead by Paul Updike.  As part of the Solutions and Performance Engineering team, I’ll be working with people like Josh Odgers, Michael Webster, Derek Seaman and will be responsible for:

Validating key commercial software products and customer use cases on the Nutanix Virtual Computing Platform. This includes, but is not limited to, Cloud Orchestration Software such as vCloud Director and OpenStack, VDI Solutions like VMware Horizon View and Citrix XenDesktop, Big Data technologies like Hadoop, and key enterprise software solutions such as SQL, Oracle, mySQL, Exchange, and Sharepoint.

I’m very excited to be joining this team with some of the brightest minds of the industry. As you would expect I will have a clear focus on every aspect of EUC (VDI/SBC/UEM/EMM etc) but based on the idea to reduce complexity in the ever-changing landscape of IT build on top of the world leading hyper converged infrastructure from Nutanix.

Inter Access has been my home for 6 years and I’ve learned so much since I started there, not only from a technical perspective but from a personal perspective too. I’ve had mentoring of such great people and I’m very grateful for all the time and energy spend but it’s time to move on, it’s time to go WebScale.
