Yesterday I got intrigued by a tweet from Andre Leibovici linking to this article stating that Citrix employees (sales) are leaving Citrix for VMware, in the article he explains why they’re swapping Citrix for VMware. Andre states ‘ The main reason for the vendor move according to these new VMware employees was the vSphere stack’ and goes on about features in the vSphere stack that are only leveraged by Horizon View. As some of you may know Alex Juschin organizes an event called E2EVC. E2EVC VirtualizationConference is a non-commercial, virtualisation community Event and I recently did a presentation on the VMware EUC productportfolio.
The last couple of weeks I saw a lot of discussions on application compatibility for the Hosted Private Computer Infrastructure (HPCI)/ Hosted Shared Computer Infrastructure (HSCI). I was wondering if application compatibility still is an issue as we have plausible alternatives.
I attended the SDDC roadshow in March and VMware announced that 2013 would be the year of VDI and Software defined Data Center but I heard Tikiri Wanduragala (IBM) saying it would be the year of converged infrastructure and my first response was: “2013 is going to be a busy year…”
After an upgrade of VMware 4.1 to VMware vSphere 5.1 Update 1 one of my colleagues Wilbert Kandt noticed that the environment wasn’t properly load balanced. The problem was that an ESXi host wasn’t used as destination within a VMware DRS cluster after a while.
