AppVolumes works with any hypervisor or physical machine: you can share VHDs containing the apps via SMB, so no integration with specific storage provider is necessary. If you use ESX then I would anyway suggest to use vmdk as app container instead of smb.

Will it work with PVS or MCS provisionned Xenapp Server ? Will it be supported by Citrix & VMware ? If yes, this could be a real single image management solution at the Xendesktop level without the need to virtualize all the apps while keeping agility.

In reply to George. Look at the Hypervisor section under "What would I need to get it up and running?" It says Hyper-V with SCVMM.

2 comments: Appvolumes is not in beta (it’s GA) and windows 8.1 is not yet supported. The release notes only mention Win7. Windows 8.1 is mentioned in the user guide and the deployment guide, I was told this is not correct.
