RES Workspace Manager and language packs

A lot of our customers ask for multi language support in their SBC setup, Microsoft provides MUI’s for specific languages which can be installed on the base OS. When using default settings you’ll have to log out and then log in to have the changed language settings. But if you use RES PowerFuse 2010/RES Workspace Manager 2011 you can create this functionality without the need of logging off.

Microsoft RDS, RDS Gateway, RDS Web Access and SSO

A colleague of mine wrote a design for a customer based on Windows 2008 RDS with a RDS Gateway and RDS Web Access with Windows 7 and XP workstations, when accessing published applications the single sign on worked but when publishing a desktop the single sign on failed. We logged a call at Microsoft Support and after extensive troubleshooting we couldn’t directly solve the problem. Microsoft created a fix for this bug in Windows 8 and back ported it to Windows 7 but our customer wanted to deliver the applications on multiple, managed and unmanaged platforms so we advised them to implement Citrix XenApp with a Citrix Access Gateway so the new requirements and old requirements could be fulfilled.

Citrix Configuration Logging Database

While I was interviewing a customer for a Citrix XenApp 6 implementation one of the requirements was logging of all changes to the configuration so I wrote a design stating that the Configuration Logging Database should be used to fulfill this requirement. When I came to the point of configuring the database I used the wizard to complete the Citrix Configuration Logging Database setup but at the point I typed in the service account credentials the wizard would fail to display any databases.

Citrix XenApp and Cisco WAAS

I recently made a design for a Citrix XenApp 6 farm that had to comply with the Cisco WAAS solution the customer had in place.  This image is from the Cisco WAAS website to clarify the set-up (although this is about XenDesktop, it uses the same principals).
