Citrix XenDesktop 4 – Supported configuration?
This afternoon Rob Sanders posted a link to CTX114501 Supported Databases for Citrix Products, I’ve seen this matrix before but I did notice something in this matrix. The following products aren’t supported by Citrix on a supported Microsoft database platform:
- Citrix SmartAuditor 1.2
- Citrix EdgeSight for NetScaler
- Citrix XenApp Fundamentals 3.0
- Citrix XenDesktop 4.0
- Citrix XenDesktop 3.0
Especially the last two are noticeable, they are supported by Citrix when they run on SQL 2005 SP2 but this is out of support by Microsoft:
So reading this it’s suggested that there’s no way to have a fully supported Citrix XenDesktop 4 configuration on a Microsoft SQL platform
Citrix XenDesktop 5 Scalability

Citrix XenApp and Cisco WAAS
I recently made a design for a Citrix XenApp 6 farm that had to comply with the Cisco WAAS solution the customer had in place. This image is from the Cisco WAAS website to clarify the set-up (although this is about XenDesktop, it uses the same principals).
