As many of you may know this week Citrix Summit and Synergy are held in Anaheim, USA. I couldn’t schedule it in as I was planning to go to Barcelona and we all know what happened to that plan.

Demystifying Citrix Excalibur Architecture
For all XenApp admins and consultants out there Project Avalon will bring a big change as we are used to having XenApp servers running on the (what seemed to be) everlasting Citrix Independent Management Architecture and we’re heading to Citrix FlexCast Management Architecture (already included in XenDesktop at this moment) and will be included in the Citrix Excalibur Architecture.
Opening MMS via a URL in Windows Media Player on Citrix XenApp 6.5
I was configuring a Citrix XenApp 6.5 farm and we created some instruction video’s for the users to get used to the new interface and structure, we offered those video’s (*.wmv) via a URL on a streaming server via MMS. So far so good but when clicking on the button linking to the wmv’s files the wmv’s wouldn’t start. Apparently this is a common problem because Citrix released a kb article on it: Citrix XenApp 6 is Unable to Open MMS Files
Citrix Partner Exchange 2012
Last week I attended the Citrix Partner Exchange 2012, it’s an event held by Citrix BeNeLux and this year it was in Nieuwegein which is a new location for this event. After a slippery ride (first snow this year) I arrived at the NBC and took a look at the program:

I just got home from another exciting Citrix Synergy Barcelona with a lot of new announcements and surely lots of new information to process. While I was processing all the new information I wondered about the components of these three projects and how people should position these projects so I decided to write a blog post about Citrix Project Avalon, Merlin and Excalibur.
