Microsoft: Update to SP1 and Microsoft Forefront
Today I had to update some Citrix XenApp 6 servers to SP1 and like I already knew I have to install a certain patch I blogged about earlier. But when I tried to install SP1 on one particular server I got an error stating that the installation was failed and I had to follow a link to a Microsoft KB article.
This article was mentioning Update for Microsoft Forefront Client Security (KB2394433), so when I downloaded this patch from the catalog pages from Microsoft and installed it I was able to install SP1 with success.
Microsoft and VDI; “Why Hyper-V for VDI whitepaper” and “Jump Start: Microsoft Virtualization & Hyper-V”
Microsoft is publishing a lot of information about Hyper-V and VDI, last week they did a three day “Jump Start: Microsoft Virtualization & Hyper-V” online event. There was a lot of information about the hypervisor, vm’s, user density, manageability and of course VDI.

Corey Hynes and Symon Perriman are in the middle of a great day one to this Microsoft Virtualization for VMware Professional Jump Start event. After providing a short Virtualization Overview and spending some time differentiating between Microsoft and VMware terminology, they started a great session on Hyper-V. Both sources contain great information about hypervisors (in general but of course about Hyper-V), manageability and VDI. The documents also contain more information about scaling and user density which still is difficult ground to cover so these are useful documents.

RES Workspace Manager: Windows 7 Embedded, Citrix and log off local client
Today I was at a customer with thin clients with Windows 7 embedded installed, these thin clients had to be configured to connect to a Citrix XenApp 5 farm. The problem was that we wanted to have SSO (single sign out ;-)). So of course we asked RES if we could use the Subscriber/VDX but they came with the following statement:
