Citrix: Edgesight for loadtesting best practices
I’ve been involved with quite a few Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop projects and a reoccurring phase in all of these projects is scaling/load testing. When starting a project there’s a initial phase where you try to give an answer to all of the questions concerning scalability and sizing. So I’ve build a load test a couple of times now, the problem with these load tests is that no load test is equal to another. Every company has it’s own applications, settings and user types thus these load tests are custom made and can be re-used only partly for other customers.
Citrix: Logon Optimization
Citrix released another good read on how the logon process and logon optimization in Citrix XenApp and/or XenDesktop works and how to optimize this:
Citrix XenDesktop 4 – Supported configuration?
This afternoon Rob Sanders posted a link to CTX114501 Supported Databases for Citrix Products, I’ve seen this matrix before but I did notice something in this matrix. The following products aren’t supported by Citrix on a supported Microsoft database platform:
- Citrix SmartAuditor 1.2
- Citrix EdgeSight for NetScaler
- Citrix XenApp Fundamentals 3.0
- Citrix XenDesktop 4.0
- Citrix XenDesktop 3.0
Especially the last two are noticeable, they are supported by Citrix when they run on SQL 2005 SP2 but this is out of support by Microsoft:
So reading this it’s suggested that there’s no way to have a fully supported Citrix XenDesktop 4 configuration on a Microsoft SQL platform
