2012 recap, here comes 2013!

Like last year I decided to write a recap of past year. This year was a really interesting year, I learned a lot. Not only from a technical perspective but from a personal perspective as well.

Both Barry Schiffer and Esther Barthel joined our team (among others) and both have proven to be a great addition to the team. I think the team is really balanced and we’ve got all disciplines in house to deliver complete infrastructures with just one team of consultants.

RES Software Workspace Manager ‘s AppGuard is unable to protect your session

During one of the projects I’ve worked on we did a Citrix XenApp deployment with RES Automation Manager, as we were using building blocks the deployment was up and running in no time. The usual software was installed on this server: Office, Adobe Reader, RES Workspace Manager and some other supporting components (Flash, Shockwave, Silverlight etc) and my initial tests came out positive but after installing the PVS Target Device Software I got a strange error when starting RES Workspace Manager while starting a new session:

Shortname issues with Citrix XenApp and Citrix PVS

I was working on a new Citrix PVS image for one of my current projects and the test before running the P2PVS.exe were good, all my apps worked like they should so I prepped the server for the imaging (preparing antivirus, last PVS optimizations and a full pre-scan of my VM) and I ran P2PVS.

Citrix ShareFile Storage Zones (Connectors..)

During Citrix Synergy Citrix released ShareFile Storage Zones Connectors, this enables you to re-use your existing data sources and not having to migrate your data to the follow-me-data solution you’re implementing. I already wrote a blogpost on Follow me data and so did Marco Drost with his ‘On Premises dropbox‘ but with the introduction of storage zones and storage zones connectors we’re really leveraging the full potential of this solution.
