As I was going through cycles to deliver our next Reference Architecture for running Citrix workloads on Nutanix Acropolis hypervisor I realised that I didn’t capture the full steps to run Citrix XenDesktop on Nutanix Acropolis Hypervisor so this blogpost is have a workflow ready to make sure that you have all the steps covered to do a successful deployment.
With the current announcement of running Citrix XenDesktop on Nutanix Acropolis Hypervisor I was really exited to start playing around with the options the Nutanix platform gives us to automate a lot of processes. NVIDIA just released their GRID 2.0 GPU technology. In earlier articles I already described vGPU and the impact of GPUs in the datacenters. With this new release NVIDIA bumped up the use cases and performance characteristics to drive adoption of GPU within VDI and SBC implementations.
With the introduction of Citrix Workspace Cloud (CWC) Citrix showed a renewed interest in cloud based services, although cloud can mean a lot of things the introduction and implementation is in line with the thoughts of Nutanix’s scale out model and focus on ease of use and time to market.
With .Next behind us and all of the announcements have made their impact, we now can take a look at how to extend the Acropolis capabilities to other workloads. One of those obvious workloads is application and desktop virtualization (also referred to as SBC/VDI). We are proud to say that Acropolis and Acropolis Hypervisor were awarded Citrix Ready certification for Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp 7.6.
