While I’m still experimenting with the Microsoft SCVMM and Citrix PVS PowerShell cmdlets (read more about my first ramblings about this topic here) I figured it’s difficult to get an export of the vDisk usage to track down the number of retries on a vDisk for a particular host so I wrote a little script to make this easier.

Microsoft SCVMM, Citrix PVS and Powershell: Some quick tips
Another week, another reference architecture in the making… This time I’m working on a new reference architecture for Hyper-V 2016, SCVMM 2016 and XenDesktop 7.13. Obviously PVS 7.13 is in the mix too so I’ve been building out the environment but needed some PowerShell one-liners and easy scripts to get some work done and figured I could put them in a short blog for my own reference.
AOS 5.0: Performance improvements in Nutanix AHV
If you read my previous blog post AOS 5.0 released, XenServer TP in full effect! you know that we released AOS 5.0 and with that comes a new version of Nutanix AHV. AOS 5.0 released, XenServer TP in full effect!
Today Nutanix released AOS 5.0 which is our biggest release to date! Citrix XenDesktop 7.11; digesting full clones
Citrix recently revealed the newest version of their flagship: XenDesktop (or XenApp or XenApp/XenDesktop, I guess you get the point). One of the newest features that was included in the 7.11 release of XenDesktop is the option to use XenDesktop’s built-in deployment method Machine Creation Services to deploy full clone. Full clones, if your employer delivers a blazing fast storage platform perfectly suited for desktop virtualization it kind of catches your eye…
My experience with Citrix ShareFile Drive Mapper
When Citrix announced the ShareFile Drive Mapper I wanted to give it a go, it’s something Microsoft can’t (won’t?) offer for OneDrive so it’s a nice differentiator. This solution will connect to your Citrix ShareFile account and present the data in ShareFile as a local drive including drive letter. Certainly convenient in VDI scenario’s where you want access to your files as if they’re local but don’t want to consume the storage on the target platform for your VDI deployment.
